Just the Basics
Flights must come into either Miami, Florida (airport code: MIA) or Ft. Lauderdale (airport code: FLL)
Transfers are $16 pp each way ($32 pp round-trip) from MIA, $60 pp round-trip from Ft. Lauderdale
Option #1
|
Book Carnival’s airfare
(in some cases this includes an overnight stay).
If Carnival cannot get you a flight to arrive in time on 11/5/10, the quoted rate will also include an overnight stay in Miami on 11/4/10. Transfers are additional.
Many air cities are available. Call Cruise & Crop for rates. Rates are subject to change.
|
Option #2
|
Book your own air and arrive on 11/4/10.
Book the pre-cruise hotel & transfers through Carnival.
Call Cruise & Crop for current rates on 1-night pre-hotel options through Carnival. These rates would also include your transfer to the pier (but you’d have to get your own transfer from the airport to the hotel the night before). Hotel stays must be booked before August 27, 2010. After this deadline, hotel packages may not be available.
Hotel currently being offered through Carnival (includes a transfer from the hotel to the pier):
1. JW Marriott $128 pp
2. Hilton Miami Airport $83 pp
3. Hyatt Summerfield Miami Airport $82 pp
4. Courtyard South Beach $112 pp
5. Courtyard Miami Beach $137 pp
You’d also need to purchase a one-way transfer from the pier to the airport for after the cruise. This is $16 pp to the Miami Airport.
Fort Lauderdale Hotels are also available. Call for current rates.
Hotel rates vary based on how many people are in the cabin. Quoted rates above are based on double occupancy.

Option #3

|
Book your own air and arrive on 11/5/10.
Book Carnival Transfers
If you book your own flights, flights must arrive at the Miami airport no later than 2:30 p.m. on 11/5/10 and leave no earlier than 11:30 a.m. on 11/8/10. Round-trip transfers can be purchased for $32 pp. Ft. Lauderdale: flights must arrive by 2:00 p.m. on 11/5/10 and depart after 12:00 p.m. on 11/8/10. Round-trip transfers can be purchased for $60 pp.
NOTE: You CANNOT book your own air & hotel (to arrive on 11/4/10) and still purchase Carnival transfers. If you do everything on your own, you’ll have to find your own transportation to and from the pier. The Miami airport is approx. 25 minutes from the pier. Visit http://www.miamidade.gov/portofmiami/ for a list of Shuttles, Taxies and Rental companies. Cruise & Crop does not operate or control in any respect the services provided by these companies, nor does it guarantee their performance.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING CRUISE LINE AIR
ADVANTAGES:
- The cost of air travel can be lower when purchased through the cruise line’s air/sea program, because the cruise line can negotiate lower air rates. Since they are subsidizing the cost, you are often able to save a great deal of money.
- Transfers between the airport and pier are generally included at no cost to you. There are also representatives of the cruise line in the baggage claim area to assist you.
- Should inclement weather or unforeseeable circumstances delay your flight, the cruise line will cooperate with the air carrier whenever possible in order for you to make the sailing.
DISADVANTAGES:
- Your routing and airline schedule is arranged by the cruise line and may include connecting flights as deemed necessary by the airline or cruise line. Your routing may include a layover or change of planes, especially with flights to Europe, the Orient, South Pacific, Mexico and/or the opposite coast of the United States. As a general rule, you are scheduled to depart from and return to the same airport.
- Unless you use the cruise line’s pre or post package at a designated hotel, there is an additional fee to change the date or flight itinerary. This is called an air deviation ($75 pp), and you must make your cruise consultant aware of your desire for the change so that necessary adjustments can be made.

Please take a minute to review the passport policy below. If you don't already have a valid passport, be sure to avoid the rush and give yourself plenty of time to apply for one. Once you've got a passport in hand, the whole world is yours to explore. Cruise & Crop/CruiseOne highly recommends traveling with a passport!
AIR TRAVEL - U.S. Citizens
All U.S. citizens including children must present a passport or other approved travel document when entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens can present a passport, NEXUS card at airports with NEXUS kiosks, U.S. military ID with travel orders, or a U.S. Merchant Mariner Document when on official business.
Beginning June 1, 2009
- U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry are required to have documents that comply with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), most commonly a U.S. passport, a passport card, a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST, or an enhanced driver's license. See the complete list of WHTI-compliant documents.

Classes will be held in the evenings and on the day at sea. Therefore, classes will not interfere with any shore excursions you may want to participate in.

The initial Meet & Greet will take place after dinner on Friday night. More details to come.

**Lighting**
Please be advised that the lighting is a little dim in the crop room. You may want to think about bringing a lamp (such as a OTT-LITE® TrueColorTM Battery Powered Task Lamp). We recommend bringing a battery operated lamp as there are limited outlets in the crop rooms. If your lamp does need to be plugged in, please bring extension cords and a power strip. I do not personally own one of these lamps so I am not endorsing it - I simply know that many crafters really like them.
If you are taking one of the classes, please bring the following basic kit:
